Jerusalem, Oct 21 (UNI) The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will conduct military exercises in the northern city of Nahariyya, that is located several kilometers away from the Lebanese border, Times of Israel reported on Monday, citing the IDF.
The army provided no information on whether the drills were scheduled in advance, the newspaper said, adding that the exercise might be linked to the military actions in southern Lebanon.
The IDF will also be testing alarm systems in several West Bank settlements, the newspaper reported.
Since October 1, Israel has been conducting a ground operation against Hezbollah forces in southern Lebanon while continuing airstrikes. Despite losses, Hezbollah has been fighting Israeli troops on the ground and launching rockets across the border. Israel says its main objective is to create conditions for the return of 60,000 residents who fled the north of the country due to shelling.
